Online Movie Stream ‘Amityville: The Awakening’

The Film:

This latest entry in the haunted house franchise has experienced something of a troubled release. Originally titled The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes and penciled in for a January 2015 release date, Dimension Films have since pulled the film, given it a title tweak and are still mulling over when to release it.

Plot details are scant, but going by the trailer the film follows a familiar path, with a single mother and her brood moving into cinema’s most haunted abode as a cost-saving measure, only to be well and truly spooked out of their skins. The cast includes Jennifer Jason Lee and Bella Thorne of Disney Channel fame so watch this space for a release date.

The Horror:

On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. took a shotgun and killed all six members of his family as they slept in their beds. He cited plotting voices within the four walls of their large Dutch Colonial crib as his motive. A year later, the Lutz family moved in for what would be a rather short stay.

A lot has been written and committed to film on what transpired once the Lutz’s moved into the now infamous house on 112 Ocean Avenue. With events ranging from bumps in the night, swarms of flies, a spooky red room, a demonic pig creature and George Lutz’s growing similarity with DeFeo, the Lutz’s were scared enough to flee the house following what they described as a too-terrifying-to-discuss last night. They’d lasted there for just over a month.

Today, the house has received something of a face lift and the current occupants claim not to have experienced any paranormal activity whatsoever. The debate on the authenticity of the Lutz’s story continues to rage.
